2013 Celebrity Quotes that Dumb Kids Might Believe

Celebrities come in all shapes and sizes.

Some are extremely talented with millions of fans while others are people you wouldn’t want to live next to but happen to have their own reality show. Most celebrities are well known and have the unusual skill of captivating people by what they say or do and THAT is where we have to draw the line.

When celebrities say stupid things, people listen and unfortunately many of these people are impressionable kids who hang on every word spoken, tweeted and posted. When adults hear these things they understand that the celebrity may be unstable or is just looking for publicity.  Kids however have not been around long enough to recognize this and start to believe what their “heroes” are saying to be true.

There are however some celebrities that have made statements so outrageous that it has even affected the health of innocent kids.  Unless the celebrity has a degree in medicine, you really shouldn’t pay any attention to them…and have your kids vaccinated!

Most celebrity quotes that we’ve heard in the past are usually harmless and can be quite funny.  One of our all-time favorites is from Jessica Simpson:

“Is this chicken that I have or is this fish? I know it’s tuna but it says chicken by the sea.”

Of course, many quotes attributed to celebrities are taken out of context or were never said.  If you have a Facebook account, you’ve probably come across a number of “quotes” attributed to celebrities that have now become the new urban legends.  There is however things celebrities have said in interviews or that they have written on Twitter that cannot be disputed and in 2013 there were three celebrities that we feel parents should explain to their kids how wrong these comments are…especially to the “dumb” ones.

Jaden Smith is a young actor whose mom and dad happen to be actors Will and Jada Smith.  Both parents have been successful with Will being one of the biggest and most popular movie stars for the past few years.  Jaden has over 4.8 million followers on Twitter and were pretty sure most of them are under the age of 16.  In September however, young Mr. Smith tweeted:

“If everybody in the world dropped out of school we would have a much more intelligent society.”

In a way we do agree.  That is if your parents are big time movie stars with millions of dollars then maybe dropping out of school might work for you.  But for the rest of us, staying in school is probably the best advice you can give to your kids.

Amanda Bynes is a young actress who was quite popular as a child and teen actor.  She had her own television show and has made a few feature films.  Lately however, she has experienced a number of issues that have seen her in rehab and in front of a few judges.  With over 3 million Twitter followers, there are a lot of people interested in reading what she has to say but her tweet targeting pop singer Rhianna was just too much by writing:

“Chris Brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough.”

Kids have to understand that this is wrong on so many levels.  No one should ever beat anyone up and to imply that someone should get beaten because they are not “attractive” is simply moronic.

Last but not least is the man who happens to be number two on our list of worst role models for boys in 2013.  The man who says he wants to be bigger than Walmart and has just had a baby with the number three selection on our list of worst role models for girls in 2013, ladies and gentlemen, Kanye West.

Kanye has sold millions of records, has a boat load of awards but he has never been shy about blowing his own horn and telling the world how great and important he is.  In an interview last December however he happen to insult every law enforcement officer and members of the military by comparing his standing on a tall prop in his stage act to being a cop and being in a war.

“That mountain goes really, really high and if I slipped, you never know. And I think about it. I think about my family, and I’m like ‘Wow, this is like being a police officer or something, in war or something.'”

Ask your kids this:  If your house was being burglarized by a bunch of thugs with guns, who would you want to come help you?  The police or Kanye?

If the kid doesn’t understand ask them this:  If we come under attack, who would you want to protect you?  The armed forces or Kanye?

If your kid still doesn’t quite understand, its time you sat down with them and explain the difference between celebrities and real life.  Not only will you be doing your kids a big favor but the world as well.
